Borobi is the mascot of the 2018 Commonwealth Games

Borobi is the mascot of the 2018 Commonwealth Games, to be held in the Gold Coast Australia.

Borobi is a male Koala with blue fur and unusual markings on his paws. The name Borobi is derived from a dialect used by the Yugembeh people, an indigenous Australian group from the Gold Coast region.

The mascot was revealed to the eager public in April 2016, with a detailed back story to establish a sense of connection with the public.

The back story was developed with the 'everyday' Australian in mind, and in many respects reflects the challenges faced by many Australians.

The countries of the Commonwealth are represented by the campsite, the big circle on Borobi's feet.
